Peter Jakobsson is a PhD candidate in the research project Digital Media Cultures. His thesis work concerns copyright and regulation in relation to digital media. He is also teaching courses in digital media production and cultural production on the web. Other interests include digital games, new media history, software studies and media philosophy. Peter Jakobsson is working at Södertörn University College since 2007.

 

His project - Regulating Digital Cultures - deals with the conflicts over copyright resulting from the development of digital media and network technologies. Its aim is to explore how these conflicts are handled within different fields of the ‘cultural industries’. By investigating policy responses – whether they be written documents or technological fixes – the project aims to read these responses as answers to how these industries view themselves, their audience and the prospects for regulating and controlling the uses of the industries’ products.
